What is Resource Consultation Services?
Resource Consultants are a dedicated team of child developmental specialists who work alongside educators to support the inclusion of children with special needs in licensed child care settings, including home child care, camps and approved children’s recreation programs. All children are supported to form authentic, caring relationships with their peers and educators, enabling them to actively and meaningfully participate in licensed child care and early years programs (ELCC). Supports provided to ELCC programs by Resource Consultants may include: providing child care educators with program adaptation strategies; professional learning experiences; developing individual program plans; conducting developmental screens; providing referrals to community agencies; providing information and resources for parents; and, obtaining specialized equipment as required.
Simcoe County Resource Consultation Services (SCRCS) also provides general and child specific consultation in licensed Before and After school programs in Simcoe County. Child-specific consultation is tailored to address the unique goals of each child, offering up to six visits over a 4 to 6-week period. Each location and classroom can access a RC to provide general strategies, support sharing of community resources and activities to promote inclusion.
We are dedicated to actively supporting Indigenous and Métis child care centers off reserve, as well as Francophone child care programs in our region.
