Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services and Supported Living Homes, this position will provide leadership and supervision in a team environment, for staff working in a variety of supported living home locations. Leading a team of direct support professionals, the SLH Supervisor is responsible to select, train, motivate and manage direct reports and to provide support and coordinate training. The Supported Living Homes (SLH) Supervisor will ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance Measures (QAM) and the Agency’s Mission, Vision and Values. They will work collaboratively to plan, develop and design services to meet program needs, while supporting person-centered services. The Supervisor will work with their Manager to oversee admissions, discharges, navigate contentious issues, and case management.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Supervise and coach employees within assigned locations, fostering a collaborative team environment, while providing performance feedback and encouraging staff development
- Monitoring staff hours, staff expenses and any additional expense lines, thereby ensuring the effective use of all resources and compliance with budget requirements
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement, Quality Assurance Measures, legislative requirements and agency policies
- Monitoring programs and sites to ensure dignity, safe practices and inclusion for persons supported, staff, and volunteers and ensuring the changing needs are met
- Ensure quality support by monitoring programs and adapting to the changing needs of persons supported
- Prepares, reviews, evaluates, and audits required documentation related to the position
- Oversee staff hours, expenses, and resource allocation to ensure compliance with budget requirements
- Collaborate and build rapport with internal and external partners including various departments, persons supported and their families, community partners
- Promote positive staff morale and open communication, maintaining visibility and approachability
To be considered as a candidate, the successful applicant must have the following minimum qualifications and experience:
- Graduate of DSW Program or related educational background in Social Services, including Pharmacology
- Minimum of 2 years supervising experience
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff
- Excellent organization, communication and people skills
- Collaborative working style together with excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate support requirements and respond to emergency situations including evenings and weekends
- Demonstrated ability to motivate a large group of staff, knowledge and capable in applying principles of coaching, mentoring and performance management effectively
- Proven ability to work in collaboration with other departments
- Ability to work in a computerized environment
- Commitment to self-directed planning process and philosophy
- Current valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment
Hours of Work: Scheduled for thirty seven and a half (37.5) hours per week, with a requirement to participate in the on-call rotation, flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
