The Dual Diagnosis Justice Clinical Coordinator (DDJCC), under the direction of the Community Networks of Specialized Care – Central East (CNSC-CE) Manager, is responsible for supporting persons with developmental disabilities and/or dual diagnosis (mental health, addictions, brain injury) to meaningfully participate in the justice system and avoid recidivism. The DDJCC is responsible for providing individualized and solutions focused support to complex people that are eligible for services through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and have been identified as High Support or Complex Care Needs (HSCCN) or under reasonable grounds. This position services Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge and Durham.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• The DDJCC takes on a community leadership role in building capacity across sectors; serving as a provincial resource for justice, mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictions supports. This includes providing education through training and provincial conferences, participating in relevant committees and advisory boards, and seeking to expand available resources through grant proposals.
• The DDJCC will take on interim clinical coordination and oversight attached to the positions of the Clinical Justice Program (including but not limited to Justice ABA Specialist, Justice A-DBT Clinical Specialist, etc.).
• The DDJCC will take on interim specialized projects and initiatives under the Clinical Justice Program (including but not limited to the Justice App development, clinical based groups, provincial training initiatives, post-secondary student placements and partnership development). The CSCC will make referrals and facilitate access to and from specialized resources, including local, regional and provincial levels. This would include clinical support, psychiatric support, psychological support, and specialized accommodation.
• Responsible for providing virtual and in-person support, assessment, planning, and monitoring dependent on individual and clinical need.
• Create a DDJCC Support Plan that identifies the needs and goals of the person and a plan of action to assist the person to meaningfully participate in the criminal justice system.
• Coordinate the justice process by partnering and planning with persons, families, justice professionals, court support workers, corrections and supports from the developmental disability, mental health, and addictions sectors.
• Coordinate a continuum of services based on a person’s choice and need, act as the central contact person and advocate for appropriate service linkages.
• Participate in various communities, court, agency, and local planning tables to share information and resources as well as identify gaps and brainstorm creative solutions.
• Provide interim clinical coordination and oversight attached to the positions of the Clinical Justice Program (including but not limited to Justice ABA Specialist, Justice A-DBT Clinical Specialist, etc.).
• Work on specialized projects and initiatives under the Clinical Justice Program (including but not limited to, Justice App development, clinical based groups, provincial training initiatives, post-secondary student placements and partnership development) as capacity permits.
• Other duties as assigned
• The DDJCC will ensure adherence to the CNSC mandate
To be considered as a candidate, the successful applicant must have the following minimum qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in social services and/or College Diploma with a minimum of five years’ experience in the developmental services sector, justice and/or mental health field.
• Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and taking on leadership opportunities that promote cross sectoral collaboration and partnerships with minimal supervision.
• In-depth knowledge of the developmental services sector, justice, mental health, addictions, brain injury field, family work and systems issues.
• Working knowledge of the CNSC logic model and the biopsychosocial model.
• Demonstrate complex support coordination abilities and a familiarity with how to access support and services available to persons with developmental disabilities and HSCCN.
• Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of an inter-professional team and ability to work in a cross-sector context.
• Demonstrated ability in adherence to people’s rights and an understanding of people’s ability to direct care.
• A valid province of Ontario’s driver’s license and access to a reliable and insured automobile for transportation to be used in the course of employment as travel across Central East is required.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary contract anticipated to end May 2026 (12 months)
